Dr. Neal Birnbaum and Dr. David Curtis began their rheumatology careers in San Francisco in the late 1970s. They combined their practices to form Pacific Rheumatology Associates in 1994. Dr. Pedro Ruiz joined the group in 2007. All three physicians are board certified in internal medicine and the subspecialty of rheumatology. They are all on the active medical staff at California Pacific Medical Center, northern California’s largest private teaching hospital, and participate in the training of internal medicine residents.
The physicians and staff of Pacific Rheumatology Associates are committed to serving our patients. We strive to combine the newest advances in medical science with old-fashioned compassionate care. While a real person answers our phone, we are linked to other physicians and hospitals by a sophisticated electronic health record. We have access to all the new and exciting therapies for arthritis and rheumatic diseases but take the time to thoroughly discuss the pros and cons of these breakthroughs. We strive to work with each patient to develop an individualized treatment program that’s right for you.
